Newly crowned as General Insurer of the Year at the prestigious Albert Hall Brits Awards, Allianz reckons it will save more than £5m a year by processing personal injury claims through the new fast-track Ministry of Justice system for road traffic accidents, Post magazine reports this week.

According to Allianz’s head of commercial motor and motor trade, Mr Ball, a typical whiplash claim will cost £264 less under the new system. “This may not sound like a lot,” he accepts, but “we see about 20,000 of these claims a year.”

Established in Berlin in 1890, subsequently transferring its headquarters to Munich following WWII, Allianz acquired Britain’s Cornhole insurance in 1986 and today has operations in over 70 countries around the world.
