Is it a tool? Is it a reference point? It’s both, claims Airmic technical director Paul Hopkin talking to Insurance Times.
It, as it turns out, is the latest publication from the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers (or Mangers if one takes Insurance Times at face value). Airmic claims its best practice guide for claims handling is both a tool for insurance buyers and a reference point for insurers. “A claim is like a beautiful woman,” Paul Hopkins should really have continued. Instead he wanted to talk about questions and pointing. The guide, he said, “points to the awkward questions that buyers should ask and the kind of responses and evidence that they have a right to receive.”
Leading insurers are apparently eager for reference. ACE, AIG, AXA, RSA and the sprawlingly named Zurich have all apparently agreed to report back to Airmic on how they measure up.
